Dr. Foster

Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year!

I am Dr. Tara Foster, a graduate of Ramsay High School in Birmingham, AL. I have earned degrees in Early Childhood Education, Adult Education, and Leadership in Educational Administration from Alabama State University, the University of Montevallo, Capella University, the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), and Auburn University. I have also earned National Board certification. I have had the pleasure of working in education for 16 years in districts across the state of Alabama, and as a college professor for the University of West Florida. Before coming to Hueytown, I was a teacher at Brighton Middle School where I earned the distinction of Teacher of the Year for the school, the Elementary Teacher of the Year for Jefferson County, and the District IV Teacher of the Year for the State of Alabama (2017-2018). I am happy to now have the opportunity to serve the students of Hueytown Middle School as a part of the leadership team. I am happily married with a pet dog named Jefferson and have 4 children in my life ages 17, 10, 8, and 6 (my nephew and 3 nieces). As a proud aunt, I treat all students the way I would want my four or my own children to be treated. My motto is "Planting the Seeds...Fostering the Future" and I believe my current work is laying a foundation for the lives of students for years to come.
