Hueytown Middle School will kick off homecoming week on Oct 1.  Each day will have a separate dress-up theme but students must still be in dress code.

Monday, Oct 1: Pajama Day
Tuesday, Oct 2: Twinning Tuesday
(dress up the same as a friend)
Wednesday, Oct 3: Way Back Wednesday (choose your decade)
Thursday, Oct 4: School colors
Friday, Oct 5: Space Jam
(galaxy colors, space themed shirts, etc.) (No masks allowed!)

Also on Oct 2, the Football Boosters will sponsor the Homecoming Dance in the HMS Gym.  Tickets are $3.  The dance is for Hueytown Middle School students only and students must have their 2018 HMS student ID to enter. Replacement IDs can be made through the library for $5 but all replacements have to be made no later than 2 PM on Oct 2.  Students will not be allowed to go to their lockers at the dance to get IDs.  They must have their ID to enter.  The dance will be from 6 until 8 PM and all students must be picked up within 30 minutes of the conclusion of the dance.  Students who are not picked up in time will not be allowed to attend other after school events.

The Homecoming Pep-Rally will be Thursday Oct 4 for those students who have displayed appropriate behavior in all settings the week of Homecoming.  We will run a split pep-rally with Purple side teachers attending the first session and Gold side teachers attending the second session.

The Homecoming football game is Oct 4 beginning around 5:30 PM against Rudd Middle School.  Homecoming court and queens will be announced at halftime.  Parents do not forget that all students must also be picked up within 30 minutes of the end of the game.

Pie-a-Teacher: This week, students may pay $1 to submit their name and an approved teacher’s name in a drawing to “pie” that teacher in the face during the Homecoming Pep Rally on Oct. 4th.  You may fill out an entry slip outside the front office this week any time before 1st period with your first and last name, grade, and the teacher you want to “pie”. If the teacher has given permission to be pied, your entry will be put in the jar. Deadline is Wednesday October 3rd.

As a reminder, the week of homecoming for HMS is also the week of homecoming for Hueytown High.  There is a city wide curfew in effect and parents should be mindful of the curfew.
